About me
Most people who go to the gym have no idea how much muscle they actually have. They watch the scale go up and down and just hope for the best. I was one of those people. I trained for almost 3 years, ate clean, slept on time but had zero idea if I was actually making progress or just getting fat.
That frustration is what led me to build FFMI calculator.
I am a natural bodybuilder who has competed in multiple competitions. During my training journey, I spent hundreds of hours studying scientific research on body composition, muscle development, and fitness tracking. That is when I came across FFMI – Fat-Free Mass Index and everything changed. Unlike BMI, which just looks at your total weight, FFMI tells you exactly how much lean muscle you carry relative to your height. It is the same metric that coaches, sports scientists, and natural bodybuilders use to measure real progress.
The calculator on this site is built on the research of Kouri et al. 1995 a study conducted on 157 male athletes that found natural lifters average an FFMI of 21.8. Every score, every category, and every percentile on this site comes from real data not guesswork.
Our goal is simple. Give you a free, accurate, and easy to use tool so you never have to guess again. No sign up, no fees, no complicated instructions. Just enter your numbers and get your result in seconds.
Train smart. Measure what matters.

About the Author
Hey guys, I am Abubakar Malik – Creator of TheFFMICalculator.com
I trained consistently in the gym for almost 3 years, going nearly every day, eating clean, and pushing my limits. Like most natural lifters, I struggled a lot with one big question.
am I actually gaining muscle, or just fat?
The scale was moving, but I had no clear way to track real progress. That frustration is exactly why I built the FFMI calculator – a simple, accurate, and science based calculator made specifically for natural lifters.
No fancy certifications, just real gym experience and a strong desire to help guys like me stop guessing and start tracking their true muscle potential.
